The decision flow
The controlling DA/DH or MDA is the highest applicable minimum from the procedure, the pilot, or the equipment available and used.
Position, flight visibility, and at least one distinctly visible and identifiable authorized reference must all be satisfied.
At DA/DH, continue only when the gates are satisfied. Otherwise initiate the missed approach.
Before the MAP, remain at or above MDA while waiting for the conditions. At the MAP, go missed if they are not satisfied.
Approach lights alone get you only to 100 FT above TDZE unless the required red bars or another authorized reference becomes visible.
If the required visibility, visual reference, or landing position is lost, discontinue the descent and execute the appropriate go-around or missed approach.
TRAINING SCOPE: Natural-vision operations under §91.175(c). CAT II/III and EFVS operations are outside this version. Review the current 14 CFR §91.175, the published approach, NOTAMs, and applicable operating rules. This trainer is educational and is not a substitute for official guidance or flight instruction.
